For Future efficiency: New European Ecodesign Directive for the energy efficiency of electric motors

From July 1st, 2021, the new Ecodesign Directive (EU) 2019/1781 will come into effect and set new minimum requirements for electric motors, new efficiency classes and clear regulations for operations using frequency converters.

According to a study done by ZVEI, around 25% of all greenhouse gas emissions in Germany could be traced back to industrially used electric motors. Electric drives consume around 50% of the electricity generated in the EU.
In order to further reduce electricity consumption and CO2 emissions and thus effectively counteract climate change, the European Union has passed the Ecodesign Directive (EU) 2019/1781, which will replace the previous regulation (EC) 640/2009.
The new minimum efficiencies will also apply to operations using frequency converters in the future.
From July 1st, 2021, we will adjust our range of electric motors accordingly. Please take this development into account at an early stage in your orders, warehouse, inventory and production planning.
